Lazy. Maybe someone said it to you once and it stuck, deep, where you cannot reach to pull it out. Or maybe nobody had to say it, because you say it to yourself now, every time you sit down, every time the day ends with the list untouched.

In this episode, Dr. Alon Aviram picks that word up and turns it over. Through the story of a woman named Hannah, who carried too much for too long and then, the moment she was allowed to, simply stopped, he separates laziness, which is a verdict, from rest, which is half of how a body stays whole. What we call lazy is very often a body standing at the recovery end of itself, doing exactly what it is supposed to do, waiting for permission it has never been given.

Not advice. Not a diagnosis. A closer look at the debt a body collects when it is never allowed to rest, and how the drive comes home once you stop punishing yourself for standing still.

Where We Are is a podcast about where you are, not what's wrong with you.

Hosted by Dr. Alon Aviram, psychotherapist. The show is built on the framework he uses in his practice: a way of finding where you're standing across the different parts of a life — the body, the self, relationships, groups, and meaning — and finding your way back to movement.
